Grape - Malbec

Tasting - Lovely - and ready to be loved - Cahors. This little fortified town on a bend in the river Lot is the centrepoint for Malbec in the 'old world'. Unlike the rather more generous Argentine versions this has a tendency toward the more medium bodied end of the spectrum. Gentle plum, prune and earthy tones with a welcoming soft texture.

FYI - For us a wine that falls directly into the 'we're happy to see this on the table anytime' category. A comforting and reassuring, authentic French wine. Just add a  crusty baguette and the songs of Edith Piaf played on an accordion for the Gallic daydreams to take over.
