Tasting: The result of yet another phenomenally good vintage for Saumur. This dark wine has the classic signature of crunchy freshness with a blackcurrant leaf and grilled red pepper after taste.
FYI: All the old wine textbooks tell you that Saumur Champigny is simple, light red wine quaffed in Parisian bistros. But the standards are much higher here now and the wines are, consequently, darker and fuller.
