Biodynamic Tuscany
Three outstanding wines from our friend Giovann Basile. His fully organic vineyard high in the Montecucco Hills produces wonderfully pure and crisp Vermentino, and fabulously concentrated Sangiovese.
If you're a fan of Chianti or Brunello you need to be sure to try his 'Ad Agio' Riserva (red label). Frequently mistaken for a Brunello di Montalcino it has ample richness and strong, food friendly tannins overlaying the dark fruitcake and black cherry fruit.
If the super-Tuscan scene is more your thing then the 'Comandante' (black label) is the first bottle you'll want to open. A judicious addition of around 10% of Merlot to the Sangiovese fleshes it out a little and softens the tannins too. We say the 2015 vintage is the best release of this blend yet.
And something to perk up a dreary day? Then you need the 'Arteteca' (yellow label). Nothing beats the cleansing and invigorating aromatics of Vermentino. Part lemon balm body scrub and part roll through a chamomile and wild basil meadow.
