The Rhone Ranger
Hi Ho Syrah!
Saddle up a trio of delights from France's Rhone Valley region. Each pack contains:
2017 MICHELAS SAINT JEMMS Crozes Hermitage Signature 75cl
Brooding, dense and succulent. Here's a Syrah that gives an authentic taste of the northern end of the valley. Blueberry jam, black olive and the funky scent of sticky plasters - a common trait in Syrah from these parts.
2019 DOMAINE DE FONDRECHE Persia Blanc 75cl
The slopes of Mont Ventoux have become a dynamic region for Rhone wines. Leading the pack is Domaine Fondreche. Ultra organic practices in the vineyard and sensitive, low impact ageing in the cellar. This white wine is made from a selection of the oldest Roussanne vines on the estate. Around 4000 bottles are made per year and most are sold to the best restaurants in France. A glorious combination of chalky texture with pear, honeysuckle, melon, and light toasted sesame seed flavour. Freshness, precision and power all rolled in together.
2018 MATTHIEU BARRET Petit Ours 75cl
'Awww, cute teddy bear' is everyone's initial reaction to this bottles label. But lurking within in is a much darker beast. Again a 100% Syrah wine but this time fro the southern end of the valley. And it shows itself to be a broader and softer style than the Crozes Hermitage. It's a very very slurp-able bottle, you've been warned.
