Red wine doesn’t need to be intimidating. You don’t have to know your Bordeaux from your Barolo to enjoy a great glass – but knowing your style definitely helps. That’s where our Digital Wine Flights come in.

At Vagabond, we’ve grouped our wines into a few easy-to-love styles. Let’s meet the reds:

Fruity, Charming and Light Bodied
This is your park wine, your pizza night pour, your slightly chilled, “let’s have another” kind of red. All red berries, soft tannins and good vibes. These wines are here for a good time, not a heavy one.

Great with:
Charcuterie boards, roast chicken, mushroom tacos, or just crisps and good chat

If you like:
Pinot Noir, Gamay, natural wines, or reds that feel like wearing linen

Try this if you’re:
New to red wine, looking for something fridge-friendly, or want a crowd-pleaser that doesn’t take itself too seriously

Silky, Smooth and Light to Medium Body
These wines have polish. Not flashy, just effortlessly stylish. Fruit, texture, balance – everything plays nicely together. They’re the cashmere jumper of reds.

Great with:
Duck, mushroom risotto, grilled aubergine, and long, slow dinners

If you like:
Burgundy Pinot, aged Rioja, red Sancerre, or wines that say “I know what I’m doing” without shouting about it

Try this if you’re:
Not into big, bold wines – but still want depth, detail and that oh-so-satisfying finish

Wild, Earthy and Medium to Full Body
These are the rebels. Grown on rocky hillsides and volcanic soils, they’ve picked up a little drama along the way. Expect spice, savoury herbs, black fruit and a touch of smoke. Not everyone's first choice, but often their favourite in the end.

Great with:
Lamb, chorizo, grilled veg, paprika, and general fire-cooked things

If you like:
Syrah, Grenache, Tempranillo, or reds with a bit of mood

Try this if you’re:
A food lover, a spice enthusiast, or someone who never orders the safe option

Big, Powerful and Full Bodied
These wines do not whisper. They are rich, intense, often oaked, and built to impress. You can practically chew on the tannins – in a good way. They demand food, attention and possibly a nap after.

Great with:
Steak, BBQ ribs, blue cheese, hearty pasta, or your friend who only drinks “strong reds”

If you like:
Malbec, Cabernet, Amarone, Barossa Shiraz, or wine that flexes

Try this if you’re:
Craving something unapologetically full-on, with the structure to match your oversized glass
